BIOGRAPHY
NOT A CAREER POLITICIAN.
Rick Fox is a Bahamian leader, entrepreneur, climate technology founder, former professional athlete, global business executive, and public servant who has spent more than three decades representing The Bahamas on the world stage.
In 2026, Rick was appointed to the Senate of The Bahamas. In that role, he is focused on accountability, national development, and opportunity for Bahamian families. His work is rooted in the belief that public service must begin with listening, must be disciplined enough to follow up, and must be honest enough to ask hard questions when systems are not serving people well.
Rick grew up in The Bahamas with his family and attended Kingsway Academy in Nassau before leaving to complete high school while playing basketball in Indiana. He later starred at the University of North Carolina from 1987 to 1991 and went on to a distinguished professional basketball career, including three NBA championships with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Many people know Rick through basketball, television, film, and entertainment. But his deeper record is one of building teams, raising capital, managing pressure, and delivering results across different industries and public challenges. He has worked as a producer, actor, entrepreneur, climate technology founder, and global business executive.
Rick’s service to The Bahamas predates his political role. He has represented The Bahamas internationally, served as Ambassador-at-Large without salary, founded the Bahamas Relief Foundation after Hurricane Dorian, helped coordinate emergency support, and led work connected to the reconstruction of Sherlin C. Bootle Secondary School in Abaco. He has also supported Bahamian basketball and helped position The Bahamas in conversations about climate resilience, green jobs, and future-ready infrastructure through his work with Partanna.
Rick is not a career politician. He did not grow up inside party structures. He grew up inside performance cultures where teams succeed together, preparation matters, accountability is expected, and outcomes are measured. That experience shapes how he approaches the Senate: listen to people, identify patterns, ask better questions, refer concerns to the right place, and hold government accountable for results.
